Returned from my tour of duty in Iraq April 26th to hear the sad news of Don's departure. Been a regular listener since '99 and can't believe the show's gone. Too sad. I first started listening to you both on WAVA, when I was a nanny in Maryland. I listened to you all whenever I could sneak you in! I have never laughed as hard or had as much fun listening to anyone as I did with the Don & Mike Show. I followed you over to WJFK, and was sad when I moved back to Utah, because I wouldn't hear you again. I was so happy to find you on one of our am stations, but unfortunately it didn't last very long. I have missed listening to you, and was so excited to find your podcast last night. I have been listening to the farewell show & remembering all those shows I loved. still to this day, I cannot watch "Jeopardy" without hearing "Low Budget Jeopardy!", with your host "Alex Trebek Geronimo!!" I've been alternating between laughing & crying. I cried when I learned about Freda. She was such a sweet lady and I loved her on the show. I miss hearing her say "Alright Boo-Boo" before saying good bye. As much as I am looking forward to my Mike O'Mara podcasts now, it just won't be the same. I can't believe it, but I -cried- the last day of the D&M Show..It was poingnant and moving..Very sad, but i'm happy that Don will be able to retire (for now, I hope!) and get some comfort from the fact that he (and the rest if the show, don't worry!) made so many people laugh. I may have been having a crap day, but listening to them on the way to work would help me ALOT. I feel so lonely without them on the radio! I've lost my mind, and now listen to NPR. I have no idea why you have been in my life for the past 30? years. I guess there is a reason for everything. From the Top Five At Eight on PGC to early afternoons with Billy-The-Man-Slave and then at WAVA with O'Meara and finally all the years at JFK. You brought more than just laughs and entertainment. I can't add much to what has already been said, but it all rings true to me. Growing up in No. Va for most of my life meant hearing Don Geronimo all over the dial, from WPGC to WAVA, and finally to WJFK. My only two Don and Mike personal moments were meeting you both at the Bayou in 1988 or 89 (Mike had just done his Barbara Bush thing!) and hearing your singing debut with the Grass Roots in Old Town Alexandria years later. Not the best rendition of Midnight Confessions I've ever heard, but at least you had the balls to play it on the air! Hopefully, your future has more time in OC in it. Don, thanks for the escape that you provided on a daily basis from all the crap that we all go through. I am going to miss the "Name that Tune" game. I never heard anyone beat you and I was always trying. I have listened to the last show about four times and am still feeling melancholic and get choked up at the obvious love that everyone has toward one another and the sadness that you feel for not being a part of the show anymore.
