12/5/2008 9:09P.M. - CRAZY DAY ON SET - Meeting Julie Benz and hanging with Bob Marley/Brian Mahoney Today, at least for me, has been a lot more laid back than the rest of the days. I have been bugging Andrew for the video of my interviews with Sean, Norman and Clifton. I want to get those up on YOUTUBE once I get them approved. One of the big highlights of the day has been hanging out alot with Bob Marley, Brian Mahoney and David Ferry, who play three police officers in the film. They are just such funny guys and they love to hang out and chat. The scene they have been filming today dealt with them on a murder investigation. I can't say exactly what was happening in the scene but it involves some kick ass dialogue and some great perfomances from Paul Johansson (Kuntsler) and Julie Benz (Eunice). Again, Eunice's character is along similar lines as the character that Willem Dafoe played (considering they are both FBI agents). Anyways, so Bob, Brian and David would do their scenes and then come down and hang out with me and chit chat it up. That has been a blast.
While I was sitting around, the 2nd Assistant Director (Catherine Gourdier) came up to me and asked if I wanted to interview her and I was like, OF COURSE! She was so awesome, explaining her job duties and excactly what she has to do on set on a daily basis. She is like the busiest person alive. She is responsible for making sure the actors have what they need for the scenes and making sure they are on time, etc. After I interviewed her, we took a picture (which you can see below) and then I found out she also did work for one of my favorite movies "Lucky Number Slevin." Really cool person to talk to and great insight into the film making process. People have no idea how hard it is to make a movie.
Then, I finally built up the nerve to go over and talk to Julie Benz. She is just so freaking hot and intimadating but when you actually start talking to her, she is the sweetest girl in the world. She took a picture with and signed some autographs. You know her from "Dexter" and movies like "Rambo," "Saw V" and "Punisher: War Zone." What is funny is that she said her schedule has been so busy, especially playing EUNICE in Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, she hasn't even had time to see those last two flicks yet. "Saw 5" has been out since Halloween and she stars in the movie and has not watched it! She said she is finally going to see "Punisher" tomorrow. Very sweet girl and wait until you see her scenes in this movie! THEY ARE INSANE!!!!!!
I was just hanging out on se when they were filming more of Bob, Brian and David and they were looking at me while they were on set and joking around. Here are more pictures below. That is KUNTSLER choking me out!

12/5/2008 6:04 P.M. - Been on set for roughly 4 hours so far today - Been a blast Having a great day so far on set. They have been shooting a lot of action scenes and I have been able to meet and hang out with alot of the actors. Cool pictures coming your way shortly. 12/5/2008 1:02 P.M. - A line of dialogue that I fell asleep with in my head I was on set many hours yesterday just soaking everything in. Here's the best part though. I was like a kid in the candy store just walking around smiling. Troy was filming a scene with Clifton Collin's Jr. where his character just comes into a room blazing with bad-ass looking guns. Now, I can't give anything away but there is a particular line of dialogue that will definitely make a T-Shirt eventually. Clifton had to repeat this line a million times and I couldn't stop laughing behind the producers. I felt bad because we were supposed to be quiet on set. When you see this scene, you have to see Clifton's eyes. The way that guys eyes light up are insane! We were on set very late last night but all the actors were still bringing their A-game completely. One of the best parts of the trip so far was being able to see the brothers (Norman and Sean) do the famous prayer live in person. I almost removed my pants and went to a corner. Norman and Sean couldn't be cooler, as well as Clifton. The best is after they shoot a scene, they come over to see how it turned out. Last night my broke ass was frantically look for a ride and a driver ALECK happened to offer me a ride. But, there was a catch. Clifton Collins Jr and Judd Nelson happened to share my same vehicle. So, I just sat in the back in complete silence and let them talk the whole way. I swear that Clifton Collins Jr is every single movie ever made. The guy has 10 movies coming out next year alone, including the new STAR TREK and CRANK 2. I just got to the set and now I am hanging out with Andrew and David and I am about to go down stairs to watch more of the filming. I would say that yesterday, I was on set for many hours just watching guns blazing, explosions and just bad-ass acting. The best is when Don, the producer is "motivating" and hurrying the crew to shoot the shot. This guy has the greatest lines ever and they are not even in the movie.
I JUST GOT OFFICIAL WORD that I am allowed to announce JUDD NELSON and PETER FONDA are in the film.
ON SET WITH THE CLIPBOARD 12/4/08 CLOSE UP OF CLIPBOARD ON SET 12/4/08 ON SET 12/4/08 12/4/2008 - 11:23 P.M. Funny discussion with director Troy Duffy and Set Updates TROY and I just had the funniest discussion ever. He just got done shooting a huge action sequence and we were talking interestingly about the number 2! I was literally crying I was laughing so hard. We were just discussing the different dynamics of it and this was right after Troy had just shot one of the coolest action scenes I have ever seen.
It has been an insanely long day of shooting but every minute of it has been great. All of today has been for the shooting of the massive gun battle at the end of the flick. For a lot of the scenes, they have four cameras rolling, some of which are filming at 120 frames per second to get those bad-ass slow motion shots. Being on the set has a ton of perks because the actors just hang around. I just end up bumping into Clifton, Norman and Sean all the time. We all just talk like normal guys. If there is one thing this experience has taught me, it is that actors and crew are just people doing a daily job. This is not easy work. All of the shots you see in a film take a ton of rehearsal shots and ton of patience. Luckily, the director, Troy Duffy, is a stand-up guy and just really enjoys what he is doing. Some of the highlights of the shots today have been when the saints are sliding into a massive gun battle and they had a half dolly track for a camera just going around them in slow motion when they fired off their guns.
A true test to how hard it is to make film came today when I saw these 2 stunt guys trying to pull off this one scene where they are hanging upside down and have to flip back over and go into a gun battle. They must have rehearsed and shot the scene like 5 times. Don, the producer of the film, was sitting in a chair just becoming extremely frustrated because he wanted the shot to work out. They eventually stopped the shot for a little while and I just ran over to the part of the set to see Romeo’s (Clifton Collins) scenes. I am not going to give away what the scene is but let’s just say that it is full of violence and just bad-ass weapons. What is cool about this set is that there are three parts of it. One part is where the stunt guys are working and then the other part is this main room where a huge action sequence is going to go down.
I think I may be going def! There have been so many guns going off today on set because they are shooting the pivotal action sequences. There have been a ton of squibs (which are wires that run up an actors’ body and explode to simulate the person being shot). In this particular scene, there are like 6 glass casings that are just being completely demolished and Troy really only has one take to do these. The process it takes to rehearse these scenes and shot them is amazing. I was sitting on set and they set up a track for a camera to go around a certain part of the set. This camera is there to follow the action during this massive gun battle. I just love how Troy sits in his chair and just asks the actors to do slow rehearsals so the actors can get their parts completely down pat. You just hope the actors can do the shot right when the cameras are officially rolling. You know they are rolling when the buzzer goes off (like a fire alarm in an old fire station). The crew says the guns are “hot” and that sound is rolling. Troy counts to 3 and then it is action. Everyone on set just watches in amazement as the action unfolds. My favorite part is after the action scenes are shot, we get to re-watch what was filmed.
I wish I could give more information away but I have some great videos. Once these videos get approved, I will be able to show them. For now, check out these pictures below.
12/4/2008 - 3:53 P.M. ONE OF THE COOLEST SHOTS EVER I just had the pleasure of witnessing an amazing camera shot on set. The two saints were holding 2 guns each and they had a camera on a half circle dolly track that circled around the brothers as they fired their weapons. I watched the replay with Norman Reedus and I was practically because of how bad-ass it was. Then, I walked outside and talked to Bob Marley and Brian Mahoney (Duffy) in their trailer. We had a great time just chatting it up. SEAN PATRICK FLANERY (CONNOR) and NORMAN REEDUS (MURPHY)
12/4/2008 - 2:45 P.M. ON SET WITH EVERYONE!!!!!! BIG STUNT SCENE!!!!!!!!!!!! TODAY HAS BEEN INSANE SO FAR!!!!! If you had any idea what I have been seeing, you would lose your mind. Today is the SQUIBS and BLANKS day. There is a scene in the film where two characters (I won't say who) are sliding on the f floor with 2 guns each and just firing away at a bunch of people. I was able to stand right on set as they were shooting the scene and I almost started crying. Norman Reedus anid Sean Patrick Flanery came over to watch one of the scenes and it was just insane watching them watch their own scenes and make comments on the shots. After that MONSTEROUS shot took place, comedian/actor Bob Marley came over to me and we did a 15 minute interview outside of the studio. He said hey to the Junkies and said that everytime he comes on the show, he gets a million emails. He loves the Junkies and will be back on with the guys in February. After talking to him, we did the hackiest thing of all time and walked over to the original Boondock Saints poster and took a picture of his pointing to his name. If you have seen the first one (which if you haven't, you better go rent it right now), he played Greenley, which was the cop who bantered all the time with Willem Dafoe's character. He was basically the COFFEE BITCH. After that interview, I was able to sit down with PRODUCER CHRIS BRINKER (CB) and Sean Patrick Flanery and have an amazing interview. It was cool to get an ACTOR and a PRODUCER together for an interview. We were disussing the first film and the need for a sequel. That interview lasted about 15 minutes long. I CAN'T SAY THIS ENOUGH. THE SCENES that I have been watching and seeing shot live are BRUTALLY AMAZING. This movie is going to be GENIUS and I can't wait until everyone see's it. I have some great footage from the set and great video interviews that I will release once I get approval. You are going to be cised. Below are some pictures from the set and pictures with the stars. Keep checking back for updates. BOB MARLEY AND I
12/04/08 11:20 A.M. Back on set after a long night - Shooting until 1:00 AM
Yesterday was one of the most insane days of my life. Shocker, I used a superlative. The best part about being up here in Canada on set for this film is just being around all the actors and crew and having a great time. Last night, they were shooting until around 12:30AM. The amount of time and effort it takes to shoot a movie is astounding. Literally, there is a shot they had to shoot last night that took hours to set up and the shot only last about 10-15 seconds. I can't givetoo much away but there were stunt guys that had to be put up on wires and then shot down through glass. Now, obviously, human beings don't want to be put through glass, so the production designers and crew had to set up explosives on the glass so that the glass would break right as they were hitting it. Troy Duffy knew that he only had one take of this shot, considering the type of glass and the set-up it took. It was amazing because everyone and their mom's (literally - Troy's Mom was on set) came out to watch this shot. I was hanging around and Sean Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus and Rocco were just chatting it up. Sean Patrick Flannery might as well be a comedian because he is the funniest guy I have ever met. He just goes into impromptu acting off set. So, we are all waiting around for this shot to happen and just shooting the S. Once the shot finally happens, everyone goes into a great uproar and clapping about how well it turned out. Luckily, since everyone was hungry, the studio was awesome enough to bring a late night snack by and we all just hang out and ate. I have to say right now that there is this guy in the film named Bob Rubin who is going to be a huge star. He was walking around set with just this little PINK SPEEDO on and he's a HUGE DUDE! At one point, Troy Duffy, Rocco, Andrew, Paul and I were hanging out outside and Bob Rubin walks up in a huge overcoat and grabs a pizza box. The dude removes his overcoat and fake delivers the pizza to us with his pink speedo.
I just got to the set around 10:30am (Which was the time of the crew call) and I have been hanging around. I walked on set and was able to catch Troy Duffy. We sat down in the directors chair and I was able to film a video interview for about 10 minutes just talking about last night's shot, today's shooting and the MPAA ratings on violence. Super cool dude but he made fun of my camera! It was a little nubs camera. I will post that video on YOUTUBE either tonight or tomorrow. TODAY IS A BIG DAY FOR ACTION SCENES and GUN BATTLES. I am excited to see CLIFTON COLLIN'S JR in action and Bob Marley will be back on set today as well. I am not kidding when I say this but wait until you see this movie. I have seen about 9 or 10 scenes in Troy's trailer that are literally MIND BLOWINGLY AMAZING. I am not just saying that because I am on set. I know that it would be easy to like something because I am on set but if you liked the first movie, this one is going to be even better. BOONDOCK SAINTS 2: ALL SAINTS DAYCOMING 2009!!! Check back for more interviews and updates later on today. 12/3/2008 - 10:53 PM -- STILL ON SET WAITING FOR THE BIG STUNT SHOT Hey everyone, I am currently still on set waiting for this final stunt shot to be done for the event. I have been on set for almost 11 hours now and we have been waiting for this shot all day. All of my interviews will be heard on the air this Sunday and next Sunday on my show. I just finished up interviewing one of the big producers for the film, Don Carmody. He was one of the producers on the first film and we were discussing this one stunt shot that has to be done in one take. Essentially, there will be two stunt guys going through glass. I can't give too much information away but I have a bunch of pictures and videos which I will either post tonight or tomorrow. Producer DON CARMODY and I
12/3/2008 7:29 P.M. - Interview with Saint Norman Reedus and Production Designer Dan Yarhi I have been running around all day long doing interviews and hanging out on set watching "The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day" get shot. It has been truly an amazing experience and I am ready for more tomorrow. I am hanging out on set right before a major action scene is about to be shot and my buddy Paul and Andrew come to get me to interview Norman Reedus, who you know as one of the Saints and from Blade 2. I sat down with Norman in his smoke filled trailer as he watche The Incredibles. That dude is just so laid back. We then chatted it up afterwards and made fun of Sean Patrick Flannery for drinking Muscle Milk. NORMAN REEDUS (Murphy) and I
12/3/2008 5:50 P.M. - Watching scenes with director Troy Duffy in his trailer So, I go upstairs for the 4:30 lunch call. This is where the entire cast and crew take a break from the busy ass day of shooting and just eat and chill out. I am walking around like a kid in a candy store just trying to figure things out. I have my CBS microphone and I obviously look like I am lost. So, I get upstairs and start looking around for the actors. I had ran into Norman Reedus (the Saint on the right above) and we shook hands and talked for a split second. That was right before lunch. I am walking around the lunch room and I am about to get a plate of food and the director, Troy Duffy and his wife, are sitting down at the table next to the buffet. He pulls me over, after saying earlier that he didn't I was that young. He was just asking how long I was up here, etc. Then I said, when are you going to show me that scene you mentioned to me on the air that was so bad-ass? He said, well, do you want to come back to my trailer and watch it? I had to keep my cool and not freak out. I said sure thing! He said that he would be there in 10 minutes and I said I will see you in 15. So I am scarfing down my food and David Della Rocco (who played ROCCO "Funny Man") came and sat down next to me to ask me how I got up here, etc. I am talking to him but all I could think about was what Troy was about to show. I was about to go to a director's trailer and watch scenes that probably only a dozen or so people have seen in full. I get to his trailer and Andrew (his assistant) comes in with the dvd's. We are feverishly looking around Troy's trailer for a remote and then we finally find it. The dude had a freaking nice flat screen and surround sound in his trailer. He throws the dvd's on and I get to watch like 9 or 10 scenes from the movie that were roughly edited together. THEY WERE SO BAD-ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAIT TILL YOU SEE THIS ONE PARTICULAR SCENE with JULIE BENZ!!!! We sat there and watched them and now I am heading back to the set to watch the action scenes live as they shoot them. I will try and get pictures. Please keep checking back for updates. 12/3 - 4:34 P.M. - Still on set in Canada - Interview with Clifton Collins Jr. This day just keeps getting better and better. As I am typing up my last blog, they coming running up the stairs saying that Clifton Collins Jr. wants to do an interview. I am freaking out because I am wondering why this acclaimed actor who was in Capote, 187 and the upcoming Star Trek film wanted to do an interview. I get down stairs and we immediately start talking and we decide to do the interview sitting on the floor under the original BOONDOCK SAINTS poster. We sit there for about 15 minutes, chatting it up and I am just in complete awe. I then make a bad joke about his hair cut looking like Jean Claude Van Damm's hair from Hard Target but we moved on and that was that. After the interview was over, we shot the S for a little while longer. He was telling me great stories about working with JJ ABRAMS on the new Star Trek and about how Mike Judge is the most down to earth and humble guys he has m. He was saying that Abrams would be beat boxing on set! Check out this picture below and listen to my show this Sunday night from 4-5:30pm to hear all of my interviews! CLIFTON COLLIN JR. (ROMEO) and I
12/3/2008 - 3:19 P.M. - Getting to the set in Toronto, interviewing Sean Patrick Flanery I have officially made it to set and have been here for about 3 hours now. Needless to say this has been the greatest day of my life. Walking onto an official movie set for the first time is pretty insane. There are so many cameras and I happened to walk in during a pivotal scene in the story, which I can't give away. Below are some pictures of the set though. I basically just sat back and watched them film this scene. I ran into Troy Duffy a little bit and chatted it up but he was really busy. Andrew, Troy Duffy's assistant has been a big help and letting me get shots of the set. Then, the best part of the day came so far! THE INTERVIEWS! I sat in SEAN PATRICK FLANNERY'S trailer with his dog, DONUT, for over 20 minutes just chatting away. Below is a picture of him and I. Obviously, you know him as one of the saints, CONNOR. He's amazing. Norman Reedus wasn't available at the time. When I was on set, they were filming a scene with JULIE BENZ (you know her from "DEXTER"). SUPER HOT! Needless to say, this has been a fun day so far. There is way more to come though. We are all eating lunch at 4:30pm and then the best part of the day happens, "SQUIB DAY" as Troy Duffy called it. They are shooting some amazing action scenes today and tomorrow. The film is on a 35 day shoot and this is the last week of shooting! It's going to be silly. Check out the pictures below. 12/1/08 10:21 PM - Packing last minute
It is 10:21PM and I just saw a flick called "Doubt" and I have to wake up at 4am to catch my flight. Fortunately, I did not do any U-Turns on the way home from the movie. Check back to this link for pictures, videos and interviews live from the "Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day" set. I am visiting the set for three days from December 3rd-December 5th.
